Who it is for
Rooms that want a masonry wall or a fireplace you can sit in front of, not a sticker of stone on a metal box.
What done looks like
The firebox is Isokern, Rumford, or a listed unit from the fireplace line. The face, the hearth, and any accent wall are mortared, returned at the corners, and stopped cleanly at the trim.
What to send
A photo of the room, the floor under the fireplace, and whether the stone is a surround, a full wall, or both.
On this line
The wall
Floor-to-ceiling accent, a wainscot, or a single face beside the fire. Masonal ledgestone, rubble, or the Contemporary courses. Cultured Stone. Pangaea or Banas wall stone. Thin brick when the room wants brick, not ledge.
The fireplace
Surround, lintel, raised hearth, and the extension in front of the opening. Hearth stone is sized to the fire, not to a leftover slab. Clearances stay in the manual when the unit is listed.
Weight
Full-bed stone and a Rumford need a floor that was built for them. Thin veneer and an Isokern are how the same look lands on a cottage floor. We will say which one the structure allows.
Water
A dry living room is a mortar job. A shower is a waterproofing job first. Say if water will hit the stone. We will not set a living-room joint in a wet room.
Questions
Is an accent wall the same as a fireplace?+–
No. The accent is the finish. The fireplace is the firebox, the hearth, and the chimney or the listed vent. One quote can include both. They are not the same scope.
Do you lay interior floors?+–
Hearths and a small mortared entry, yes. A whole-house tile floor is not this line.
